But man has the price jumped. 67k for a (admittedly well equipped) 530i. Even with all the bells and whistles, that’s still a lot for a 4-cylinder 5-Series.

Funny you mention the pricing. I was fooling around on the configurator today and did a build out for the M760i xDrive. That one will hurt your feelings.

I mean, my 1995 530iT (admittedly a bit different from today’s car, but still) was ~$50k new or ~$85k in today’s money.

Especially when the CTS is a better looking, better handling and more powerful car after rebates and discounts.

With that money you could buy a first gen CPO X1, an E46 Touring, a 635csi, and a partially running 850ci.

I went to the configurator to do one for myself. Ouch.

At least the luxury car names used to make sense! (Ex: BMW 330i was 3-Series with 3 liter 6). Now...

Nice that BMW is bringing back Magma upholstery from the E36 M series :)

If you think that’s crazy...

This is better:
Sure, it costs twice as much, but it’s a brown Alpina!

That is so beautiful. I can’t imagine how much sexier the M5 would get.

I just took ours here out for a ride with my gm, omg... worlds better than the 528 it replaces, it’s the real deal!

That’s the equivalent of a 540i today, $85k is probably a good deal on one of those

It is pretty but you’re right that’s a nice chunk of change for a turbo 4 5 series.
